Working at Katzenbach Partners
Working at Katzenbach Partners presents a different kind of opportunity, one that will make the most of your individual strengths and lead to results that will make you proud.

Consultants typically follow a development path from associate to engagement manager to principal. Within these positions, though, there are many parts to play. At any level, you will probably find yourself advising, managing, problem-solving, and building solutions—sometimes all on the same day.
Our Work: Critical Thinking and Critical Doing
Our product is action, not simple analysis. Many of the most important business challenges require both solving a strategic problem and developing the individual and organizational capabilities needed to move forward. Katzenbach Partners combines the critical thinking of the best strategy firms with a deeper focus on people and organizations.

All of what we do requires us to leverage the knowledge and creativity of our people. We work with our clients to understand their unique needs and generate solutions that fit each client’s organizational approach and culture. With flexible team structures and an environment that encourages creative problem-solving, we are able both to provide opportunities for people to grow faster than they would elsewhere and to maintain the profitability that enables us to take intellectual risks.
Our Culture
We believe in creating opportunities. We encourage consultants at every level to assume leadership roles to help drive our growth.

We learn from each other. Each consultant participates in our consultant-led formal training program. Each new associate is paired with an experienced consultant who acts as a mentor and buddy. Day to day, you will find us constantly learning from our fellow team members and sharing informally with our colleagues.

We come together as individuals. The cohesiveness of the firm is based on the work we do together and the learning experiences we share, not on uniformity of perspective. The unique qualities of each individual contribute to a more vibrant, thoughtful, productive environment.

We encourage innovation from all firm members, and back this up with an initiative called Idea to Market which helps to capture, cultivate, and deploy new ideas. By fertilizing innovation throughout the firm, we are building an organization that will continue to create lasting results for our clients in the years to come.

We have fun together. Firm members regularly gather for lunch in the office. In New York we get together once a month for events such as Broadway shows, ice skating, and the U.S. Open. In Chicago we go ice skating, take in a show, cheer on the Cubs, and take art or cooking classes together. In San Francisco we get together for drinks after work, enjoy the great Bay Area restuarants together, and go to sporting events to watch local teams from baseball to hockey. In Houston, firm members host dinner parties at their homes. The friendships that emerge are long-lasting.

We share a belief in building Katzenbach Partners together. In addition to client work, there is an expectation that each firm member will play an active role in helping to build our growing firm. We involve consultants in critical management functions and maintain an unusual degree of transparency about hiring, financial performance and strategic decisions. Even junior consultants have an unusually high level of involvement with client development. We believe that an open environment promotes not only personal fulfillment but also firm success.
Our Teams
Jon Katzenbach literally wrote the book on teams—several of them, actually. At Katzenbach Partners, we know that working together involves a lot more than good intentions; working in teams is a discipline in itself.

Our project teams are made up of remarkably talented individuals who contribute creativity and expertise to solve problems that matter to our clients.

Our project teams are small enough that partners do real work and often new consultants gain significant client exposure from their first day on the job.

Our project teams measure their success not only in terms of what they accomplish, but how they accomplish it.
