Corinne Bilerman

Human Resources Project Manager
American Express
Corinne was a summer intern at Katzenbach Partners and joined the firm as a senior associate after attending Harvard Business School.
"I loved that project... getting down and dirty to get this community of practice implemented."
Corinne co-founded a non-profit and was an investment banking analyst at Goldman Sachs before she entered the consulting world. "I thought I would try out consulting to develop broader skills. I developed project management skills, communication skills, and the ability to work with clients."

Corinne began at Katzenbach as a summer senior associate, identifying what it would mean for a global telecommunications company to improve its performance and developing the tools to make it happen. After completing business school, she returned to Katzenbach because "I really liked the people here and enjoyed working with them. They were all passionate about organizational work and people work." She worked in pharmaceuticals, telecommunications, and energy on issues relating to team best practices, pride, and competitive strategy. She particularly enjoyed developing communities of practice at Bell Canada. "I loved that project. I felt like I was actually a part of the client, getting down and dirty to get this community of practice implemented."

When she decided to join a company, Corinne found a way to remain at the nexus of people, implementation, and strategy. "I wanted to go somewhere where HR had a seat at the table, was well respected, and where I could help with strategy rather than just be seen in a transactional HR role. Shanti [Chief People Officer at Katzenbach Partners] introduced me to the person who was my first boss at American Express."

"Chief of staff" is how Corinne describes her current role. "I support different relationship leaders across the globe, such as the relationship leaders for travel counselors in Europe and salespeople in the Japan/Asia Pacific region. I make sure that everything happens smoothly in HR, from surveys to year-end compensation to talent assessment. And I help my boss, the head of HR for Global Business Travel, with things that happen on our team, a sort of everything-that-she-does-I'm-involved-in type of role--which is great because it allows me to see HR from her vantage point."
